4H Llama/Alpaca Project Meeting this Saturday 12/17 at 1pm - 7 Sisters Stables

Welcome to the 2012 4H Llama/Alpaca Project!!

Our first meeting will be Saturday, December 17th at 1pm at 7 Sisters Stables. Attached please find a map to the ranch. We are located ½ mile north of Hwy 78 at Witch Creek, near where Old Julian Hwy intersects Hwy 78.

This will be an exciting winter. We have 7 females who are pregnant and will be delivering over the next couple of months. Baby crias are always fun and having a group of them dancing in the pastures will be great fun….we are looking forward to sharing this special time with you.

I’m proposing the 3rd Saturday of the month at 1pm for our meetings. We can discuss this and see if another time is more convenient. But this does correspond with the two local shows – Riverside County Fair/Date Fest at Indio on President’s Day weekend February 18-19th and San Diego County Fair at Del Mar June 9-10th.

As always, you do not need to own a llama or alpaca to participate. Come and see what wonderful animals llamas and alpacas are….and learn about opportunities to show in halter, showmanship, and youth performance. We’ll also learn about fiber production and finishing, packing, and other topics of interest.

I’m looking forward to scheduling a day hike and picnic at our nearby Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve – West. So check your calendars and let’s set a date.

Looking forward to seeing you all…..

PS: If I’ve missed anyone who might be interested, please forward. If I’m sending you more than one email please let me know.

Ramona Stars Community Meeting

Hello Stars!

Tomorrow night, December 14th, is our Community meeting for December. We will be meeting as usual at the Home Ec building at the Ramona Jr Fairgrounds at 7:00pm.

A few items to give you a heads-up on...

* We will be signing holiday cards for the troops like we did last year after our meeting. If anyone has any extra holiday cards they would like to donate, that would be wonderful. Pens to sign with would be great as well. This can count as community service in your record book.

* We would like to have refreshments to share after the meeting to celebrate the holidays. The club will provide drinks. If everyone could bring some sort of desert to share, that would be great. We were thinking maybe a 1/2 dozen of cookies, brownies, candy canes, etc. That way we don't have too much leftover. If you can't bring something, don't worry, I am sure we will have plenty! Please stay anyway to talk with everyone.

** Check out our blog... http://ramonastars.blogspot.com/ Nathan Miller, our president, has been wonderful about getting this up and running. It is a way for everyone to see what may be coming up either for the whole club, or for a particular project. There is a link on the left side where you can subscribe via email to the blog so that you get notified when there is something new posted.

*** 4-H Onlie Record Book (ORB) - Please remember to check out the Online Record book. You can access it through the same way you access the enrollment page. There is a link and instructions on utilizing it. It is a great tool for everyone to use throughout the year. It allows for everyone to update after each project meeting or event so that there is not that much to do at the end of the year to turn in your record book. http://www.ca4h.org/4hbook/ You will sign in as if you are doing your enrollment, and then there will be a link

Rememer, if you can't make it to a meeting, please let a leader know so that you can be marked excused.

See you tomorrow!
